Motherhood is better with people beside you.
A weekly place for you and your baby, with the same small group of local mums, a welcoming facilitator and trusted practitioners.
Whether this is your first baby or you’ve done it before, you deserve people to do this season with.
THE FIRST YEAR MOTHERS GROUP
You’ll meet once a week across the school term, returning to the same group of mums and babies each time. Groups are capped at 15 mums, giving everyone time to settle in and get to know each other.
Your facilitator guides the session, with time for honest conversation, questions and practical learning. Many weeks, a trusted local practitioner joins us.
Weekly sessions: 90 minutes
Term length: usually 10 weeks, with shorter terms clearly noted when public holidays affect a group
Who it’s for: mums with babies under 12 months at the beginning of term
First-time and experienced mums are equally welcome.
A little about how it works
Which group is right for you?
-

0-5 Months
Finding your rhythm, together.
Those early months bring plenty of change, from feeding and sleep to watching your baby become more alert, curious and connected with the world.
Our younger group makes space for practical questions, your recovery and wellbeing, and everything you’re adjusting to as a mum. Whether your baby is a few weeks old or approaching five months, you’ll find mums navigating a similar season.
-
4-12 Months
A growing baby. A village still worth having.
As your baby grows, the questions change. Starting solids, new movements, changing sleep and finding space for yourself can all bring something new to navigate.
Our older group offers practical guidance and honest connection through this next stage. New and returning Raising Mamas mums are equally welcome.
Sitting between the age groups?
Choose your group based on your baby’s age at the beginning of term.
If your baby is on the cusp or falls within the overlapping ages, always choose the younger group. For example, if they’ll be four or five months old when term begins, book into 0–5 months.
They don’t need to stay under five months for the whole term. Growing alongside the other babies is part of the experience.
First-time, second-time and experienced mums are welcome in both groups.
A few things included in your term
Weekly facilitator-led sessions with the same small group of mums
Practical conversations with trusted local guest practitioners
A private group chat for connection between sessions
A welcome bag filled with goodies from brands we love
A complimentary motherhood mini portrait session, with photographs available to purchase separately
Access to our carrier library, with help exploring carriers and getting your fit right
The extras are lovely. But the heart of it is having somewhere to come each week, with people who get to know you and your baby.
Throughout the term, local practitioners join us to share guidance relevant to you and your baby.
Topics may include feeding, sleep, starting solids, development, pelvic health and maternal wellbeing. There’s room to ask questions, join the conversation and take away what feels useful for your family.
Practitioners and topics vary by location and term.
Trusted people, practical conversations.
A morning each week for you, your baby and a small circle of mums you’ll get to know along the way.
We meet across seven local communities, with the same session times wherever you join us:
0–5 months: 9:00–10:30 am
4–12 months: 10:30 am–12:00 pm
$195 for the term
We know maternity leave can be a tricky time financially. If spreading the cost would make joining easier, please get in touch. We’re happy to arrange a payment plan.
Take a look below for your local venue, meeting days and start dates. We can’t wait to welcome you both.

You might be wondering...
-
Choose based on your baby’s age at the beginning of term.
If your baby is on the cusp or fits within both age groups, always choose the younger group. For example, a baby who is four or five months old when term begins should join 0–5 months.
It’s completely fine if your baby grows beyond that age during the term. Growing alongside the other babies is part of the experience.
-
Absolutely. Raising Mamas is for first-time and experienced mums.
Every baby and every season of motherhood is different. Many of our returning mums tell us they value having dedicated time with their new baby and meeting people who understand this particular chapter.
-
Most mums arrive without knowing anyone else in the room, so you won’t be the only one.
Your facilitator will be there to welcome you, introduce you to the group and help you find your place on the mat. You don’t need to be naturally outgoing or arrive with a friend.
-
Babies are very welcome to be babies here.
You can feed, cuddle, change, settle or walk around with your baby whenever you need. Nobody expects your baby to follow the schedule, and you never need to apologise for tending to them.
-
We know how often sickness can interrupt plans when you have a baby. If you or your little one are unwell, we ask that you stay home and rejoin us the following week.
This helps us care for the other mums and babies in the group. Our sick policy is emailed at the beginning of term and pinned in each group chat, and all toys and play mats are sanitised after our sessions.
-
Life with a baby does not always go to plan. If you miss a week, you will remain part of the private group chat and will be warmly welcomed back at your next session.
We also often share helpful resources, presentation slides and the guest speaker’s contact details in the group chat after a session, so you can still access some of the information covered that week.
As each week is part of the full-term program, missed sessions are not refunded or credited.
-
Our weekly First Year sessions are created as a dedicated space for mums and their babies. Keeping the groups to mums and babies helps create a calm environment where everyone feels comfortable speaking openly and honestly.
We understand that organising care for older children is not always easy. However, partners, support people and older siblings are not able to attend the weekly sessions.
-
We know committing to a full term can feel like a big step, especially if you don’t know anyone yet.
We don’t offer trials or casual attendance because the heart of Raising Mamas is coming back to the same small group each week. That consistency gives everyone time to settle in, move beyond small talk and build genuine friendships.
-
Sometimes. If a group still has space, we may be able to welcome you after the term begins and adjust the price to reflect the remaining sessions.
Please get in touch and we’ll happily check what is available.
-
We understand that circumstances can change, particularly during pregnancy and life with a baby.
Bookings are non-refundable, but we may be able to transfer your place to another available group or defer it to a future term. Please contact us as soon as you can, and we’ll talk through the options with you.
-
Send us a message. We’re always happy to help you find the right group or answer any questions before you join us.
